Dasylirion wheeleri - Desert spoon - common sotol
A large species, native to the southeastern USA and northern Mexico that forms a robust trunk to about 1.5 m (4.5 feet) tall and has a large crown of straplike, thorny, blue leaves. It demands a well drained, sunny site and is very hardy to drought and even severe frosts (-15C).
