Cordyline australis - Cabbage tree
The Cordyline australis is a delightfully elegant and exotic plant. The green variety is the most hardy. They are very easy plants to look after and need a minimum of maintenance.
Cordylines are reasonably fast growers. Until the plant has formed its trunk it can double its volume in a single year. This green variety is the fastest grower and can reach a maximum height of around 3 meters.
The Cordyline australis is not so fussy about its situation. It likes a sunny place, but will grow well in the shadow, too. Wind hardly troubles the plant, and is even beneficial in cool, damp periods as it helps to dry the plant out.
